Beneath all of that resides a dormant part of her personality that isn't shown enough until it is nearly too late. Loyal to her family name, Rin's desire to participate in the Holy Grail War is not one for herself. After all, she has no wishes for the Grail. So why would she engage in such a competition? Because at one point, her father wanted to win the Grail, so she believes that in winning it, she would be fulfilling his wishes from the grave. Her loyal connection with her father is strong even though he's passed. In fact, while she's fiercely loyal to her father, she's rather obliviousdismissive in general when it comes to her sister. Thinking of certain things (such as the price of being the Matou heir) would be too painful for her; she would either have to accept Sakura's torment or rescue her. Neither option is acceptable for Rin as a magus so she can only watch from a distance.

There remain a few other things to mention. For example, Rin's ignorance when it comes to technology. As a magus, most of what she needs is readily available to her through magical means. She can barely operate her alarm clock, much less a VCR, and it'd be the cruelest form of torture to put her in front of a computer. As a clash to her perfect image, she's grumpy and in a daze in the morning. She's notoriously lazy and would sleep in (or lounge around in her pajamas) if given the opportunity. She's a firm believer of 'Equivalent Exchange' or so she preaches - she rarely actually follows it as she's seen as a good nature person who gives aid willingly. Oh? And if she smiles at you? Run.
