Character Name: Nura Nal (Dox)
Character Series: here be it! (http://dc.wikia.com/wiki/Legion_of_Super-Heroes_(Earth-Prime))

Background: Nura was born to two strict parents upon the planet Naltor, where, as she grew, she was discovered to be a very powerful precognitive, and soon had much weight placed upon her shoulders on the expectations of the people around her.

On Naltor, natives are gifted with the ability to see the future. But where others see 20 seconds ahead, Nura Nal saw 30 seconds. This led her into law enforcement, but she left her training as a Precommando to join the Legion, something that Naltor took as a great slight to their codes. On Earth, her fellow Legionnaires regarded her as somewhat of an airhead because her visions often left her oblivious to her present surroundings, as well as the bubbly, party-girl attitude she exhibited through her propositions for drinks and nights out dancing at Legion-sanctioned parties. In her world, the Legion are celebrities to the youth. Hero-worshipped to great extremes, and known asthe enemies of reason and results to the "square" adults of the highly-policed galaxy. The Legion stands as a true form of rebellion and their motto of "Eat it, Grandpa!" Honestly. They can be perceived as rude and abraisive, but they had their points.

The world that Nura lived in was highly policed. Highly restricted. Children were put on literal leashes, given chips that tracked them through the galaxy-wide tracking system, the Public Service, and even put through reprograming and abuse of many kinds. The idea: children need to be controlled so that they don't get out of control.

The Legion thought this was just bullshit.

Naltor was a particular big issue planet, of course. Lucky Dream Girl, it was her home planet.

Dream Girl returned to Naltor with a group of Legionnaires when thousands were driven mad by "dream deprivation." The Legion noticed that only "underagers" were affected and soon uncovered the truth. The Public Service technology used to monitor underagers was itself negatively affecting Naltor's youth. While on Naltor, Nura received a particularly disturbing vision of great catastrophe. Naltor's High Seer had seen it as well, and sought to spare his people from experiencing the vision.

Dream Girl's began to encounter blackness in her visions. Part of her knew what this meant. When the Legion's battle with Lemnos came to a head, the villain sent suicide bombers into the Legion plaza and headquarters. As the building collapsed, Dream Girl guided others to safety, but perished herself when the plaza fell.

Brainiac 5 had always acted as though Dream Girl were an anomaly or an annoyance. In truth, he was in love with her. Upon her death, he acted immediately to preserve her body—and, he hoped, her soul. He deduced that a person's soul was merely energy and he housed Nura inside one of his force fields to keep hers from escaping. Her body remained in suspended animation until he could finalize his plans to resurrect her. Her fellow Legionnaires held a special memorial where one Legionnaire at-large, Reflecto, was delusional that she'd been his girlfriend, and caused chaos until Saturn Girl and other Legionnaires were able to subdue and stop his rampage.

Brainiac 5's plan involved using the powerful mental powers of their former foe, Lemnos, to restore Dream Girl's psyche and soul to her body. Brainy told few of his plans and soon absconded with Dream Girl's and Lemnos' bodies. He piloted an ancient L.E.G.I.O.N. craft into space along with Light Lass and Element Lad and Atom Girl, all of whom were drafted to help him reanimate his love. Using the power of a pulsar star plus Lemnos and the Legionnaires ... something happened. Dream Girl's body disappeared. Brainy was furious. But later, while sleeping, Dream Girl visited him. She was fully cognizant but now existed only on this metal/astral plane. Truly, a "dream" girl.

Well at least I got page two

[identity profile] naltorian.livejournal.com 2011-09-26 09:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Meanwhile, Naltor's High Seer was demanding the return of Nura's body and Rol Purtha, Dream Boy, arrived to replace Nura in the Legion. Needless to say the other Legionnaires, especially Brainiac 5, were not content with this arrangement, seeing as Dream Boy was replacing their deceased friend just like that at the whims of Naltor. Dream Boy was very much aware of this neglect, as well as the first to learn of Dream Girl's new state of existence when he received a visit from Dream Girl in his sleep. He soon revealed this to others, including Brainy. Brainiac 5 kept this a secret, but Dream Girl was not limited to visiting him. She spent time with other Legionnaires, though they remebered her visits not, and attempted to watch over and protect them from her place upon the Spirit Plane. Saturn Girl also discovered Nura's presence when she was forced to enter Brainy's mind in his sleep.

In this spectral form, Nura could easily have chosen to move on the afterlife, but remained tethered by her love for Brainiac 5. Querl found a medium named Meander to serve as a host body for Nura, so that they could enjoy a true-blue date in the flesh. While inside Meander, Nura was without her powers and failed to "see" an attack from Princess Projectra. Projectra needed to eliminate Dream Girl in order to carry out a plot of vengeance against the Legion, believing that Nura would foresee Projectra's attack and warn the Legion. She freed some of the baser aspects of Brainiac 5’s psyche, leading to a night of carnal passion, lust and desire which manifested as demons that attacked Dream Girl. This happened just as Querl proposed marriage to her. Nura survived but was left blind—in both sight and foresight. Querl encouraged her to enter the beyond, but she refused, agreeing to marry him instead.

Much later on, Querl was able to return Nura’s spirit to a clone of her body, as was the same for the “data” of the other Legionnaires after a dangerous mission in cyber-space, in which their bodies were badly damaged during an attack.

Later on, they were both on watch of Super-Boy Prime, making sure that he did not run amuck and attempt to cross the multiverses to cause damage as he had done in the past. They also continued to be part of the Legion, in their role in defending the galaxy from any villains having a rotten day.

Point in Canon: The point where she and Querl are watching over Superboy-prime from the future.

Point in Canon: Episode 12, during the glittery space hugs.

[identity profile] warplanes.livejournal.com 2011-09-27 08:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Personality:
with memories
Once upon a time, there was a young sick girl with no self worth. She had no particular talents, nothing that made her stand out from her peers. She was awkward through and through, from the way she spoke to the way she moved to the way she interacted with other people. She was shy, she was afraid.

She had very little before two of her classmates saved her from a certain death. After that, she had friends, and quickly became dependant on them; one of them in particular, Madoka Kaname, became someone important and very special to her. So special that what she felt for her might even be called love. She admired both of these girls for their fearlessness, and how they embodied everything she was not. They were stylish, special, helpful and brave; intelligent and kind; beautiful and graceful.

But the Walpurgisnacht came. They both died, leaving her as the powerless watcher on. Over the dead body of the girl she loved, Homura was offered a miracle. A miracle she clasped with both hands and took not for herself, but for the dead girl in front of her. She wished to re-do the meeting with this person, this time as someone with the same magical power her two friends had; someone with the ability to change fate, someone with strength.

And so it went.

Homura woke up in the hospital room the day before she was to transfer to the school her friends went to. Her wish had become reality, and she was able to redo her meeting. But it came to the same conclusion: she was unable to protect Madoka. This continued. Every time she failed, Homura would try again; each and every time she learned something new, and every time her heart was gradually ripped to tiny shreds as she watched her friends die.

No matter what she did, it would come to nothing. She ends up shooting Madoka to prevent her from turning into a monster. Killing the person she loves with her own hands, that triggers a change in her.

"No one believes in the future. No one can accept the future."

Gone is the awkward girl of the past. Gone are the insecurities and the doubt and the fear. Using magic to heal her flawed eyesight and letting her long hair flow loose, Homura realizes that she cannot save Madoka as she is now. Homura must completely remake herself to save her. She becomes the opposite of everything she was once before. Jaded and icy, distant and aloof. Graceful and intelligent, fearless and brave. She becomes everything she once admired in the girls Mami Tomoe and Madoka herself.

But with one crucial difference: she goes it alone.

There is one truth in her world and that is she can rely on no one but herself. She cannot rely on others. Her own integrity and strength is what will change everything, and she cuts no corners and beats around no bush in order to get the job done. What other people think is of no importance, so long as it does not get in the way of her goal. But despite her icy exterior, Homura is very human. She steels herself to do what she must, feeling pain and suffering as anyone else would. She is tragic, sad, and lonely; but she believes this is the only way.

"Repeat. I'll repeat it no matter how many times. I'll live through the same events again and again. Until I can find the only way out. The way to save you from despair."

Homura Akemi embodies one thing, and one thing only: purpose.

Point in Canon: Right before she enters the final room in Charlotte's maze in episode 3.

Mami Tomoe [2/2]

[identity profile] magicgunworks.livejournal.com 2011-09-28 04:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Personality: When one first meets Mami, the first thing they might notice is how cool she is. No, not in the “oh god so awesome!” way (though that is the reaction some people have towards her). Mami has a very calm, even demeanor, which very rarely changes. Whether she’s in school or fighting a witch, she very rarely loses the aura of calm about her. She's confident in her own abilities, and just a little on the cocky side, almost casually threatening Homura in several of their confrontations.

Her personality definitely fits the role she takes in the series. She’s the big sister figure, the mentor; she cares very much for Sayaka and Madoka, especially the latter, and does her best to show them the ways of being a Puella Magi. They may be defenseless when they enter the witches’ dimensions, but Mami does her best to keep them safe. She also does her best to guide them; she stresses that they must think carefully over their wishes. She thinks it would be foolish to waste such an important thing on something trivial.

... Heartbreakingly, most of this calm attitude is just a mask.

It's true that Mami is a nice girl. It's true that she wants to help Sayaka and Madoka be the best Puella Magi they can be. But underneath all that is an almost crippling loneliness. Before meeting the others, she had nobody to care about or who cared about her for an unknown amount of time: her parents are dead, she's constantly butting heads with the city's other resident Puella Magi, and she constantly fights increasingly creepy otherworldly beings. This puts an immense amount of stress on her, and she admits that while she's resigned to a life of loneliness, she still cries a lot at home. It really says a lot about her acting that she's able to cover all of this up.

But once the cracks start appearing in her shell, she doesn't bother covering them up. She eventually admits that she's not someone that should be admired: the loneliness, the guilt... she's even a bit cynical under all her layers. And because she represses all these issues this means she's not exactly emotionally stable. She's not insane by any means, oh no, but hiding all the fear and survivor's guilt under a mask of perfection gives plenty of time for all those negative emotions to eat away at her, leaving her very emotionally vulnurable without all her masks.

While she doesn't regret becoming a Puella Magi, she does regret not being able to make the choice for herself. She's also more than a bit selfish; she's willing to expose Madoka to the horrors of becoming a Puella Magi just so she'll have someone there for her. To assure her that she's not alone. In her defense, though, she didn't know the true horror of becoming a Puella Magi. This is confirmed in Timeline 3: Mami, completely horrified over the reveal that Puella Magi with tainted Soul Gems turn into witches, destroys Kyouko's Soul Gem and would have done the same to Homura and Madoka had Madoka not destroyed hers first. She's willing to do anything make sure those she cares about aren't suffering, even though it may seem extreme at times.

So all in all, Mami is a lonely, troubled young girl who just wants someone to love her. It's not too much to ask, right?

Shirou Emiya | Fate/stay night | Reserved | 1/2

[identity profile] wontdieifkilled.livejournal.com 2011-09-28 07:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Name: Chris
Personal LJ: [livejournal.com profile] hurricane_chris
Contact Info: Already given.

Character Name: Shirou Emiya
Character Series: Fate/stay night (http://typemoon.wikia.com/wiki/Fate/stay_night), Unlimited Blade Works route (http://typemoon.wikia.com/wiki/Unlimited_Blade_Works_(route))
Background: http://typemoon.wikia.com/wiki/Emiya_Shirou
Point in Canon: Unlimited Blade Works True End
Personality: The first thing that needs to be mentioned in a discussion of Shirou as a character is his ideal. Shirou's greatest desire is to become a "hero of justice" and save anyone and everyone that needs to be saved. While this is a borrowed ideal -- which originally came from Kiritsugu -- Shirou has completely and utterly embraced it as his own ideal. In Shirou's mind, there is nothing more beautiful.

This, in turn, leads to some pretty self-destructive behavior. You see, because of his ideal, he's focused on saving everyone except one person -- himself. Shirou has no sense of self. All too often this leads to Shirou pushing himself past his limits, only to get himself severely wounded or clinging onto life by a mere thread in the process. If he has to give up his life to save even one person, he'll do it without hesitation.

Naturally, this leads to Shirou doing some pretty stupid stuff. Two such examples can be found in the first battle in Berserker. In the Fate and Heaven's Feel scenarios, Archer isn't there to back Saber up, so Saber is taking a pounding. Shirou then runs in to protect her and nearly gets cut in half as a result. Now, keep in mind that, if Shirou, the Master, dies, Saber, as his Servant, will disappear. Both Shirou and Saber were fortunate that Shirou had managed to survive. In Unlimited Blade Works, he does something similar. When Shirou realizes that Archer is targeting Saber as well as Berserker, he runs out, grabs Saber, and hauls her back. If he had been just a few seconds too slow, he would have been killed in the resulting explosion from Archer's attack. As it was, he took a serious shrapnel wound to the back that he would have avoided if he had instead called Saber to come back.

Now, with Shirou pulling stunts like this, it's natural that people call him out on his ideal. While it doesn't happen much in Fate, it happens a lot in Unlimited Blade Works. The most egregious example is Archer (which makes sense; Shirou's ideals led to the existence of Archer as we know him), but Gilgamesh lays it on pretty heavily, too. The two Servants both point out the flaws in the ideal, particularly two facets. First, a superhero can only save the people in front of him and/or the people he chooses to save. Second, if Shirou continues to pursue his ideal, there is one person he is guaranteed to fail to save -- himself.

Shirou, however, refuses to give up his ideal, even in the face of its most crippling flaws. To him, the ideal is just too beautiful to surrender. He's just that damn stubborn. Despite acknowledging its flaws, he refuses to give up on it, and continues onward. This is, however, a marked improvement, especially considering what the player would have seen when he/she read Fate. Here, Shirou knows and understands the flaws. That knowledge and understanding gives a much needed shade of gray to the otherwise black-and-white mentality the ideal involves. That shade of gray can lead Shirou to eventually correct the flaws with the ideal -- either by compensating in other areas or training himself to the point where most obstacles won't pose a problem to him -- and become better for it.

Shirou Emiya | Fate/stay night | Reserved | 2/2

[identity profile] wontdieifkilled.livejournal.com 2011-09-28 07:30 pm (UTC)(link)
But enough negatives of Shirou's following his ideal. There is definitely one positive, which shows through the magic Shirou can perform. While most people consider projection useless because they need the raw materials in order to project (magic follows the rules of Equivalent Exchange in the Nasuverse), Shirou can project weapons without any raw materials. That's because he lacks a sense of self. Instead, he uses part of himself. Whenever Shirou projects early on, or attempts a massive projection, he experiences side effects. This ranges from a headache to the entire left side of his body going numb. And when he invokes his Reality Marble, his Magic Circuit almost explodes.

Yes, I covered six paragraphs on Shirou's ideal alone, but there's more to him than that. First of all, Shirou is very honest. He speaks what's on his mind, and if asked about if he's thinking about something he'd rather not divulge, he'll respond in a manner that mentions the subject of his thoughts but doesn't go into any more detail than that. His honesty even extends to what other people are saying -- when Fujimura is telling Saber about Shirou's childhood, despite his not wanting her to, Shirou keeps silent because she's speaking the truth. That said, if he needs to lie, he will -- he told Sakura and Fujimura that Saber was a foreign friend of Kiritsugu's.

Shirou is also highly self-sufficient for his age. He lives on his own, he cooks his own meals (unless Sakura beats him to the kitchen), and he works various part-time jobs to earn money. On that subject, he's a very good cook. Of the three characters able to cook (himself, Sakura, and Rin) he's the best at western dishes, and while both girls are better cooks of Japanese food than he is, he still cooks it better than he does western food. He has no experience cooking Chinese food, though. At the same time, though, Shirou isn't one for cleaning. Instead, Sakura takes care of that.

Speaking of girls, Shirou definitely likes them. He's pretty normal in that regard, actually. For example, Rin is the one girl at school that every guy drools over (except Issei), and Shirou is no exception. Even when he found out that Rin wasn't like the perfect student air she gave off at school, he was still endeared to her tsundereness anyway (for this, just look at how popular tsunderes are among male fans -- again, totally normal).

At the same time, though, Shirou keeps tabs on his hormones. A lot of times, though, this manifests in a spazzfest of sorts. Rin takes to teasing him just because she gets epic reactions out of him. Also worth noting is that he takes sex seriously. He doesn't want to have sex with a girl unless a mutual attraction exists. It's this belief that turns the scene between him and Rin the night before the final battle into a magnificently heartwarming scene (at least before the smut kicks in).

Then we get into some more minor stuff. First, Shirou is an excellent archer. He used to be part of the archery club until an accident left him with a chemical burn on his right shoulder. Of all the times he fired an arrow at the archery club, there was only one time that he didn't hit the target. Also, Shirou has gotten into the habit of waking up on his own at 5:30 every morning. He believes that alarm clocks are degenerate, so he hasn't used once since he was a kid.

Character Series: Axis Powers Hetalia (http://hetalia.wikia.com/wiki/Hetalia_Archives)
Background: Here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Hetalia:_Axis_Powers_characters#Prussia)
Personality:Gilbert is the kind of guy who has a completely unwarranted overinflated ego. His social skills are virtually nonexistent, and, though there was once a time in which he was a great nation, he isn’t even a nation at all anymore. Yet he still insists upon calling himself “awesome” and strutting around like a proud peacock. Chances are this is his defense mechanism to keep himself from spiraling into depression, and it works quite well. Despite how far he’s fallen, Gilbert is a very happy, very confident person. Even if he spends his holidays alone and the only person who puts up with him regularly is his younger brother, it’s good to be Gilbert Beilschmidt, as far as he’s concerned.
Usually, Gilbert can be found goofing off, not doing any sort of work whatsoever, playing around on his blog, pestering other nations, or playing with his pet chick. However, Prussia isn’t entirely a lazy bum. Having been a very militaristic nation in the past, he does still have some discipline to him. It’s just a matter of when he chooses to employ it. In modern day that isn’t particularly often, but the potential is still there. There are in fact times when he will be serious and get down to business, though usually only when it’s absolutely necessary.
In modern day, Gilbert has a rather strong desire for recognition. He wants the people around him to respect him and praise him, though that seldom happens. Pretty often, he will pester other nations that don’t particularly like him, such as Hungary and Austria, in order to get some sort of attention. He pesters his younger brother, Ludwig, who is one of the few people who actually likes him, in this manner as well. In the most extreme case, he went around cleaning up everyone’s houses in the hopes of impressing them. It…did not work out well. At All. In fact, more often than not, his plans fail. Failure is a common thing for Gilbert, no matter how much he tells you he’s awesome. However, that is a lot more endearing than if he was as awesome has he says he is.
One of Gilbert’s biggest weaknesses is also one of the most endearing things about him, and that’s his massive soft spot for cute things. Be it small birds, which are his favorite, or any other cute little animal, or even Italians, Gilbert will drop what he’s doing to coo over the cute thing in question.
All in all, though he can be annoying, Gilbert isn’t a bad guy at all, and can actually be pretty fun to be around. So long as his ego doesn’t bother you too much and you enjoy getting into wild shenanigans, he’s a great friend to have.

Porom | Final Fantasy IV | not reserved | don't judge me???

Character Name: Porom
Character Series: Final Fantasy IV (http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Final_Fantasy_IV)
Background: Link! (http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Porom)
Point in Canon: Just before she and Palom cast Break on themselves.
Personality: Even at the tender age of five, Porom is wise beyond her years, displaying a sort of maturity that some adults never reach. (I'm looking at you, After Years!Palom.) She's kind and caring, overly respectful toward her elsers, and is good at keeping her cool even in a crisis.

When I say that Porom is "kind and caring", I mean it. Even though she's still very young, she's more than willing to put her life on the line for others, and even to die to protect someone else. No matter what length she has to go to, if it's to benefit others, she'll do it. Her gentility and selflessness are part of what makes her such an accomplished White Mage.

Of course, she's not always nice to people. In fact, she can be something of a nag. If someone is being rude or disrespectful, or getting themself into trouble, Porom is right there trying to talk them out of it. She'd only be downright impolite toward someone she's very close to -- her brother, for example -- but even toward anyone else she would still use a firm and forceful tone.

Of course, one's personality is informed by one's memories. With amnesia, Porom wouldn't quite know why she acts the way she does. Because the twins lost their parents for unspecified reasons and can't even remember them, Porom takes on a sort of surrogate mother role toward Palom. Without that knowledge, she would likely be less of a bossy nag, for example.

Also, it canon that Porom has wanderlust, a desire to see the world, but she holds these feelings back for the sake of being responsible. If she didn't know she were supposed to be responsible, she would likely be more impulsive and curious; once her memories eventually return, though, she would feel embarrassed by her previous bad behavior and set out to right whatever wrongs she would believe she committed.

Character Name: Ky Kiske
Character Series: Guilty Gear (http://guilty-gear.wikia.com/wiki/Guilty_Gear_Wiki)
Background: http://guilty-gear.wikia.com/wiki/Ky_Kiske
Point in Canon: End of Accent Core Plus.
Personality: Ky is an extremely devout and upstanding individual. If he believes in something, he believes in it with all his heart. He is a strong believer in God (and, being French, is probably Catholic), and is also a strong believer in the inherent goodness found in humanity. And he will avoid straying from his beliefs at all costs.

However, this also comes with a negative side. Because of Ky's beliefs, he has an extremely rigid view of right and wrong. To him, the entire world is divided into justice and injustice. Ky believes that he is implementing justice, and that justice will always prevail in the end. Ky doesn't take this belief to knight templar extremes, but he does come close.

This has been changing ever since Sol killed Justice, though. Sol's defeat of the Commander Gear -- the same being that had fought Ky's mentor 17 times, each time ending in a draw until Justice finally killed Kliff -- threw his worldview into utter turmoil. Ky could not understand how a man like Sol could do the deed when Kliff, a much greater man in Ky's opinion, could not. From the end of the first Guilty Gear game on until the end of Accent Core Plus, Ky spends time trying to figure out what justice truly is.

In the process, Ky's black-and-white view of the world gradually begins to soften. By the end of Accent Core Plus, he's almost thrown it away entirely. His time spent with Sol and Dizzy has shown Ky that Gears are not inherently evil (Ky recognizes that Sol isn't evil -- just a jackass) and starts working with people he never would have dreamed of working with before. A prime example is Johnny. In his earlier days, Ky never would have worked with a pirate. Now, though, he entrusts the Commander Gear to his care, and is willing to work alongside him to reveal more mysteries of their world, in particular the Post-War Administration Bureau.

That being said, Ky has plenty of other good qualities. For one, you would be hard-pressed to find a more selfless man. If a person is in trouble, Ky will go out of his way to save them, even if there is nothing in it for him. Usually there is, though -- had Ky not subdued Dizzy's wings, the results would have been catastrophic.

Ky is also a hard worker. He sets his eyes on a goal and does not stop until he achieves that goal. The best example of this was the five-year period in between Ky first approaching Kliff and Ky's initiation into the Sacred Order of Holy Knights. He trained like there was no tomorrow, and as a result is in peak physical condition and incredibly skilled with magic (lightning is the most difficult magic to master, yet Ky is capable of using it with minimal difficulty).

Finally, Ky is very intelligent and charismatic. He has a good grasp on the world and its history, and is also intelligent enough to know about his charisma and therefore put it to good use. Talent aside, it was these factors that got him positions as both the leader of the Sacred Order of Holy Knights and captain in the International Police Force. He also uses these gifts to secure a network of political connections. Ky uses his gifts, and he uses them damn well.

Yuri Petrov | Tiger & Bunny | not reserved 2

[identity profile] a-civil-service.livejournal.com 2011-10-04 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
Personality:
Yuri Petrov is a man with two faces: one he shows the world, and one he keeps a secret. Outwardly, he is calm, controlled, and polite. He is a man concerned with his civic duty, dedicated to making the community a better place. Though not particularly warm and somewhat reserved, he isn't an unfriendly person. He might be more formal in manner than most, but he can appear affable enough in social situations. He has a subtle, slightly dry sense of humor that some find appealing. In spite of his largely logical, practical attitude, he has a love of and flair for the dramatic that others might catch glimpses of every now and again. He is confident without being arrogant, but he doesn't suffer fools lightly. There is an end to his patience, and he can become frustrated with those he finds particularly trying. He does his best to keep his temper in check, and this frustration usually shows itself as sarcasm or a certain iciness of manner. In some ways, this persona is a façade, for Yuri leads a double life. His identity as the impartial judge serves as a cover for his alter ego, for he is also the vigilante Lunatic. As polite and even-tempered as he appears outwardly, inwardly, he is much more negative, critical and cynical.

When not at work, Yuri keeps to himself. He may be mannerly and eloquent in public, but he is difficult to get to know privately. He has little personal life to speak of. He spends much of his free time in contemplation and research. His hobbies are quiet ones. He likes to read, research, and sew, and he has a great fondness for tea, often brewing and tasting different varieties. He trains in secret, becoming ever more adept at the use of his power. He does this because he has a dream, a passion that drives him.

For Yuri is haunted by his past and by the hidden depth of his suppressed emotions. He has never recovered from what he views as his murder of his father. He has not sought help of any kind, and he copes with what he did to his father by trying to convince himself it was the right thing to do. In spite of the fact that he'd been a terrified child, he considers it his fault, but he'd used his power to rid the world of a villain, hadn't he? That's what he wants to believe. Beneath his calm surface is a man who suffers from severe depression and delusional thinking, though he struggles to control himself and maintain his external composure as well as he can. Yuri's love of justice and his distorted way of thinking have combined to inspire in him the desire to wipe out crime as Lunatic. He wants to bring peace to the world by eliminating all criminals, killing them as he killed his father, so they can never harm people again. His ultimate goal is the protection of the weak and defenseless. He doesn't kill because he enjoys it.

Without his memories, Yuri would have none of that obsession with punishment. He would genuinely be that calm, serious, yet amenable person he appears to be, the person that the sensitive, introverted boy he once was would have grown into if not for the trauma he experienced. He would be gentler and less relentless. Yet when his memories begin to return, so too would that inner turmoil--as well as Lunatic. That is not to say that Yuri, even with his memories, is not capable of change and growth. He has become particularly interested in the hero Wild Tiger, whose different view of justice intrigues him. The end of season one shows that his view of the Heroes and Tiger in particular has softened somewhat, though he still views himself as their adversary.

Character Name: Haruhi Suzumiya
Character Series: The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (http://haruhi.wikia.com/wiki/Haruhi_Suzumiya_Light_Novel)
Background: Again, a wiki link to the character's background will generally suffice. A combination of this and the above canon overview should give a good explanation. Given the nature of the game, this is not only necessary, but we will require you to write something yourself if there's no explanatory source.
Point in Canon: After the events of "The Surprise of Haruhi Suzumiya (Final Part)"

Personality:
One good word to describe Haruhi is the one most people call her once they get to know her for only a few minutes. And what is that word, you may ask? Eccentric. However, there is more to her than meets the eye. Sure, no ordinary girl would introduce herself in her first day at high school as a person who actually asks for the supernatural, specifically aliens, time travelers, and espers. She even states bluntly that she wants those types of people to join her.

It’s true that to many people at her school, she is considered weird, but she is still human. In the middle of “The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya”, she actually tells Kyon that she has actual feelings, she does have hormones and sometimes she just wants to do silly teenager things such as going out with someone, but she doesn’t want to be ordinary, she wants to be different. Ordinary, to her, is completely and utterly boring, and she doesn’t want that at all. Plus, making Haruhi bored is a no-go, especially if you’re a part of the S.O.S Brigade. And even more so if your nickname is ‘Kyon’. Most likely, someone who makes her bored will receive punishment, and that punishment usually is the first thing that comes to mind – at least, the first thing that would make one person’s life miserable.

Even though Haruhi says that she wants to meet “aliens, time travelers, and espers”, she is actually quite logical. In the back of her mind, as told by Koizumi, she knows that these things exist, but she just wants them to exist- which is why aliens, time travelers, and espers do exist, but Haruhi doesn’t exactly know that. And even if she was told the truth, she wouldn’t believe you without proof.

Haruhi always gets what she wants. For the most part, at least. She will do anything to get what she wants by any means necessary, whether it means bribing someone, or even blackmail. However, Kyon is pretty much her ‘sanity’ at times, for he is one of the only people who won’t succumb to her whims, which everyone else does. It actually annoys her to no end, and all she wants is for Kyon to obey her, like a god. Though sometimes that isn’t really a good thing, because she does tend to abuse her power, and well, ordinary people don’t always agree with her – and she has to deal with the fact that she too, makes mistakes, and isn’t perfect.

Sure, she isn’t perfect, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t have emotions. Haruhi actually does care about the S.O.S Brigade and believes that they’re irreplaceable in each and every way. She expects the best from them, and nothing less than one hundred percent.

haruhi suzumiya → the melancholy of haruhi suzumiya (reserved; 2/2)

[identity profile] masaras.livejournal.com 2011-10-06 03:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Nonetheless, even with all the eccentricities that Haruhi has, she’s quite athletic and is one of the smartest girls in her class. In fact, during most tests, she ends up finishing early and therefore sleeping in the middle of said test.

Another thing to note is that Haruhi is quite impulsive. She will do things on a whim, especially when she comes up with the idea right there and then. She works on those impulses, which actually lead her to the creation of the S.O.S Brigade. She didn’t care if there weren’t enough members in the club to actually make it ‘official’, she just wanted a clubroom and an official club all to herself, for all the other clubs were a big snooze. Though then again, this was all Kyon’s fault, even if it was indirect. Haruhi also has a tendency to drag people into things, which are usually either mysterious, odd, but most of them are actually interesting. Even if Kyon may hate it.

Love is a mental illness. At least, that’s what she believes. Sure, she may have a little thing for Kyon, but she believes that love isn’t something that she should be doing right now and that she should focus on her brigade and on finding something different, special – just plain supernatural. After all, ordinary is boring, right?

Haruhi is also quite attached to the title of ‘Brigade Chief’ and she will force most people, especially strangers, to call her that unless you’re Kyon or a part of the brigade. It annoys her to be put down by people who are obviously lower than her. Then there’s a possibility of calling her by name. Though she honestly doesn’t like being called by name too often, especially if she doesn’t know you. You need her permission for that.

Character Name: Kyubei Yagyu
Character Series: Gintama (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gin_Tama)
Background: Yagyu Family (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Gin_Tama_characters#Yagyu_Family)
Point in Canon: Episode 220
Personality:

The first time you meet Kyubei, all you are exposed to is a short but willful young man - "his" first appearance was to demand that Otae Shimura become "his" wife - he had her taken to the Yagyu home in preparation for this. A battle to get her back ensued between the Yagyu hme and her friends - essentially her friends won, and Kyubei's true nature was found out. During his battle with Toshiro Hijikata, the opponent figured out Kyubei's secret and refused to fight - Kyubei is in fact, female, though since the Yagyu family had no sons, she was raised as one in order to succeed the family name. Her father had refused to remarry after her mother passed away, resulting in Kyubei being an only child. She was born female in both mind and body, but due to her rigorous training to become the heir, she has a very hard time in dealing with her gender and what to do about Otae. In the end, Otae promised to continue being best friends as they were as children, and Kyubei is willing for this to happen, as long as she is close to her. She was defeated and allowed Shimura to go back home, and to this day the two are still very close.

Kyubei Yagyu | Gintama

[identity profile] babeltowers.livejournal.com 2011-10-08 03:46 am (UTC)(link)
Getting that out of the way, the next step is dealing with Kyubei's mind after she stops being "a bad guy". The two girls are often working on ways to let Kyubei feel more feminine - shopping, dressing up, once even having a debut party for Kyubei to meet men - however, it's not working out like they hoped, as Kyubei still despises being touched by men (even attacking them when it happens) and still wants Otae as her wife - though she does refer to herself as a female, now. Many characters still use male pronouns for her, though it seems to depend on the situation and the person. In the "ambitious future arc", Kyubei is seen dressed as a woman... But had surgery to get male organs. It's also shown that her retainer fears that his "cute boss" will get a penis attached due to the advertisement he found in her room - but it turned out it was for a dress shop instead. Kyubei rarely wears female clothes, and when she does, it's always on Otae's insistence, though she does seem embarrassed by it. Finally, it's proven several times that she still retains feelings for Shimura and feels that Isao Kondo is a rival to her affection. There are several quotes that prove she is actually female in both mind and body, even past her male upbringing. "I really...just wanted to play with dolls and have tea parties. I wanted to walk through town in a pretty kimono like the other girls." She reveals that she hated what her family had done to her. It's thought that she developed a mental barrier that made her beleve that she was "more than" male or female, as she has mentioned several times that she would "turn into" a male in order to protect Otae, as well as "turn into" a male fr her family - and finally, she's allowed to naturally be whomever she wants.

Kyubei herself is a natural deadpan character - she's very formal, very polite and to the point. Raised as a noble, she holds herself in high esteem and refuses to back down from anything. Due to the gag humour that makes up Gintama, Kyubei often misinterprets situations ridiculously, acts wildly out of character in the most inopportune times (To Gintoki, that is), and cannot always be taken completely seriously. She refuses to wear the clothes that her retainer buys, going at lengths to blow them up. Often she is seen accidentally being groped, resulting in her completely trashing the men who touched her. She is blunt and does not have much tact when it comes to dealing with people who are not nobles, thanks to her strange upbringing. When dealing with others, she speaks in a direct manner, not often getting angry or losing her cool. Kyubei does not show active interest in many things, it can be hard to get to know her due to this personality she was brought up with, though on the inside she is a very genuine person - she is not the type to lie, deceive or backstab. Raised in an era of samurai who were trounced by aliens, Kyubei has a sense of 'bushido' like many other characters, she is very proud and constantly acts like a noble, however she harbors no ill-will to the Amanto it seems.

Kyubei's goals are simple - succeed the Yagyu house, marry Otae and be a strong swordsman - her skills can rival the main character's at times, she is often seen carrying her practice sword. By becoming the lord of the Yagyu home, Kyubei feels that she will pass all expectations that a woman could be strong as well - not to mention all of the people who picked on her as a child. By marrying Otae, she will fulfill their promise and won't let any harm come to her - when she was young, she lost her eye defending Otae, trying to repay all of the kindness that the girl had given her. She wishes for a future where Shimura could live happily and without worry. As of this time, she does anything she can to gain Shimura's approval, even working with her to become more feminine (learning to cook, helping out at an escort club, wearing gothic lolita clothing). Her family is considerably less harsh on her since the battle, however she still works hard to keep up the name - the Yagyu house is close to the government and Shogun.

Character Name: Kaguya Nanbu

Character Series: Super Robot Wars OG Saga: Endless Frontier

Background: & & & Prior to the game, Kaguya spent her time training under Otone to master the Jinraku Tengen style of kenjutsu. At the age of eighteen, she embarked on a coming of age pilgrimage that every woman in her family bloodline must take. After nearly sacrificing herself and watching a world that was ripped apart become whole again, Kaguya returned to Taketori Castle only after promising to ask Haken to kidnap her when she wants to go on another adventure with her.

Point in Canon: After the events of the first game.
ai: (Default)

wow the shortest app i've ever done

[personal profile] ai 2011-10-08 03:59 am (UTC)(link)
Personality:
As an imperial princess to her clan, Kaguya's personality is pretty linear to the ditsy princess stereotype. Naive to most of the jokes regarding her bust size, her current view of the world and it's inhabitants is definitely clouded. Believing everyone she comes across has the best of intentions, she is ignorant of most insults unless they are boldly spoken. If she happens to understand the joke made at her expense or the insult, she's quick to dispel her cheerful demeanor, replacing it with annoyance, and encourage the rest of her comrades to join her in kicking the offending party's ass.

Along with being naive comes the rest of the typical princess personality traits - cheerful, upbeat, and very bubbly. Kaguya's eagerness to do what is right is a strong personality trait. She will disobey and continue to oppose all who believe she needs to just return home. With her own agenda in mind, she's fought against those who wanted to bring her back to her original kingdom, believing in her alternative plan rather than the one her father believes in.

When it comes to being selflessness and selfish, she is at the extreme ends of both. She is willing to sacrifice herself to save the world later on in the game. However, on the same path of saving it, she wanted to say "screw world peace" and return home just because she was unable to take the heat of the desert. Overall benevolent with her spiritual background, she will often pray for others in their time of need, even if the time is during the middle of a fight.

Playful and adventurous, her attitude towards others generally is to be friendly. Capable of making friends with ease, she has the traits to be a natural leader... if only she applied them. In love, she seems to be passive with her emotions, keeping them to herself mostly, but they can slip out if she feels threatened. She is also easily flustered by flirts (if she catches them) and at times has shown to be envious whenever Haken flirts with another woman in front of her.

[ It's 3 in the morning and your phone (if it's turned on) may be receiving several text messages all at once. ]

Hello everyone ( ´ ▽ ` )ノ Kaguya here! I was told recently I should take up employment at a club. I went to the library, but they told me I was too old for any of the school clubs there. For the record, I'm only eighteen years old. I don't know how that's too old for anything!

Regardless, I was given a tome with yellow pages to flip through for clubs.

I found one that was referenced to as a 'Gentleman's Club' thankfully. So guess what I did?

Are you guessing?

I think I gave you enough time to guess.
[ She really didn't. ] I went to pay it a visit! ( ´∀`) After all of my hard work, victory would finally be mine.

They hired me on the spot. It was hardly any work at all! I guess being charismatic and hard-working just shows all the time!

I do have a strange question though and that's why I'm contacting the lot of you at such a strange hour.

Is it appropriate for ladies to wear such vestments at a club?

Madoka Kaname | Puella Magi Madoka ☆ Magica | 1/3

Personal LJ: [livejournal.com profile] sugarvoice

Character Name: Madoka Kaname
Character Series: Puella Magi Madoka ☆ Magica (http://wiki.puella-magi.net/)

Background: Character Wiki (http://wiki.puella-magi.net/Madoka_Kaname) ☆ Episodes (http://wiki.puella-magi.net/Episodes)

Point in Canon: Episode 12 ☆ Godoka
I'll be playing her in her human form, as if from the sparkly bffsnotlesbiansrly scene.

Personality:

For the majority of the series, Madoka is a very common girl. She is the definition of a normal Jr high student; fairly happy, most comfortable with her close circle of friends, casually interested in looking cute and getting love letters... Madoka seems pretty plain at first glance. But there's more to Madoka, more to her then she even knows.

In all of the series' timelines, Madoka is portrayed as a happy girl surrounded by happy family and happy friends. She is a friendly girl who is always looking to help people and be of use to them, but is plagued by a lack of confidence that makes it hard for Madoka to turn her kind thoughts into action.

Her lack of action is a driving point in the series. Throughout the show, Madoka is constantly worried about the issue of making a contract to become a magical girl. She drags the decision on because Madoka is a very thoughtful and careful person, but also because she has trouble being brave. The series shows us that when Madoka has a problem she will talk it through multiple times and take her sweet time making important decisions, if she can help it. In situations where Madoka cannot take the time to think something through and anaylze all ends of it, she will act impulsively and then pay for her choice later--- two prime examples of this are when she stops a group suicide and then freaks out afterwards, and when she shoots Mami to save Homura and has her mental breakdown after the fact.

Though Madoka attempts to be informed and think things through, she still has some personality flaws that taint her choices. For one, Madoka is a very idealistic person. She approaches things with the glass half full, as any optimist would. Though she is capable of learning (Mami's death did the trick), Madoka is persistently hopeful throughout and series and always hopes for a way to make things better.

Madoka Kaname | Puella Magi Madoka ☆ Magica | 2/2

[identity profile] sugarvoice.livejournal.com 2011-10-08 07:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Her kindness also influences her thought processes. She is not very good at picking sides in a conflict and is much happier to silence her own opinion in the name of dissolving conflict and finding a peaceful solution. For example, she doesn't directly say if she thinks Sayaka is right or Kyouko but instead hopes they can compromise. She does this again when Homura makes claims about soul gems becoming grief seeds, never directly saying she does not believe Homura while her actions suggest otherwise.

Madoka's timid nature is the final flaw in her decision making. She is constantly questioning herself and has very little confidence. Though Madoka doesn't flaunt her lack of confidence, she does not usually approach things thinking that she can accomplish them well. She sets low expectations and therefore restricts herself. She is capable of confidence, but even that is overshadowed by her modesty (Madoka claims to be good at running in her 100 question survey). I do not play Madoka as being a totally incompetent person but instead as someone who needs to give herself more credit.

It should also be addressed that Madoka is quite selfless. In most timelines, Madoka makes a contract with Kyuubey to save the life of a stray cat. She is the type of person who is willing to accept a life of fighting witches for the sake of one animal. Madoka very strongly wants to help everyone around her and be of use to them and actively puts herself down as a minor concern.

However, the biggest issue for Madoka is confidence. Madoka needs to feel worth the life she's living to be confident in herself and is typically seen to accomplish this by becoming a magical girl. Madoka believes that, as a magical girl, she is able to help protect people and is therefore a worthwhile person. This confidence is what changes Madoka from timidly following behind Homura in one timeline to being the one leading Homura with an energetic smile on her face--- performing the exact same conversation just with a role reversal. Confidence is the difference between the terrified Madoka who prevents a suicide and then begins freaking out when pursued and the brave Madoka who saves Homura and continues to protect her with a confident smile.

With her confidence, episode 12 Madoka is able to make the miraculous wish that effectively saves magical girls everywhere. Her wish turns Madoka into something of a goddess (though she does not think of herself as a goddess) who is able to see all worlds and times in order to change them. As "Godoka" she is at the prime of her confidence. Madoka has no fears for the future and confidently believes in herself and wants everyone else to be able to believe in themselves until the very end as well. She is much more calming and full of love for absolutely everyone.

Memories-wise, Madoka's personality will develop gradually as she gets more memories. She is likely to be a cross between her Puella Magi and normal Madoka self in terms of confidence at first, with her feeling of self worth wavering as she gets more memories. Since she will probably end up remembering all timelines, Madoka will optimistically cling to her Puella Magi persona and try to make herself a helpful person. It will take getting memories of the last episode to turn Madoka into her nurturing Goddess self, though.

Point in Canon: April 24, 1975, day after Ford declares the Vietnam War over for the US
Personality:

FREEDOM, LIBERTY, and JUSTICE are the three most important things to America. But he is, to put it bluntly, an immature, ignorant loudmouth. Self-indulgent as he is, he likes to eat burgers, amongst everything else he can get his hands on, play baseball, and stick his nose into other countries’ businesses. He’s an ambitious, happy-go-lucky, confident sort of guy with a massive hero complex; he will truly and honestly want to save you with every fiber of his being, expend every resource he can to do so, but he just may not go about it in the most reasonable way possible. His given reasons for doing the things he does usually consist of self-proclaimed heroism and the plight such a hero must take when he puts the world on his shoulders. Otherwise, there’s not much else behind his decisions. He is fueled by a mission, a quest, even, to save the world and all of its inhabitants since he believes that he is the sole person fit for the job. For all his worldly bravado, he doesn’t know where any countries are on a map because he only has maps of America. Heroes just go, in America's viewpoint, they don't need silly things like maps or a decent grasp on what's going on.

America is stuck in a limbo between the spontaneous and rebellious teenager with a poor handle on money, falling into debt without effort, and a responsible adult who, when he focuses his mind and energy on things, can actually prove to be a beneficial ally. He's able to plan strategies, provide financial and/or militaristic help to other nations, and has it in him to lend things to those in need. Granted, his selfish, "my way or the highway" moments a little too often for anyone's liking, and discredit the bouts of maturity he displays with the larger bouts of immaturity. What he says goes, no matter how ridiculous, how unreasonable, and he'll take no objections! Sometimes, the thrill and anticipation of battle overrides the logic he's capable of, and it drives him to seek conflict to prove his global worth. As a colony, he did all he could to prove himself to England, and when the time came to split from his motherland, sought to prove the same to nations across the sea. Becoming a full-fledged nation so young in the timeframe he did required pushing, shoving, and an iron-clad will to survive. In result of this, he feels the need to assert himself and his dominance in all situations; he needs to win, and win at all costs.

He's tactless, borderline offensive most of the time, and this could be blamed on his refusal to read the atmosphere rather than him being incapable due to his young idealism. Saying that he can't is much easier because, idealistically, everything should be displayed as it is without the necessity of having to pick apart the details to find the true meaning; from this, he has the bad habit of choosing one window of opinion to focus on, ignoring all the others even though he's well aware of their existences. This, however, is a development more characteristic of his modern age, rather than how he's always been. In his fight to protect freedom, he tends to close off his openness to the direct opinions of others; the exception appears to be when he's around Lithuania, who's really the only country that generally likes him for who he is and supports him, to whom he opens up to and discusses issues with. America holds Lithuania's opinions highly, especially the ones regarding his growth as a country when he opens up his concerns over becoming an adult.

It should go without saying that America is also competitive, and that's putting it lightly. If one country figures out how to do something, anything, America wants the information, too, and he wants to make it better than the original. He views the world in his capitalist goggles, putting everything into a perspective that dictates power and standing by the cool things you have in your backyard because of all the money you make one-upping those other guys across the ocean. In the more pertinent case of Russia, the Soviet Union in 1975, for example, the nation started exploring space and putting heavy emphasis on education to help it grow. In response to this, America began a space program and enforced higher education nationwide, sparking the beginning of the Space Race of 1952. It was a competition so important it meant the world and everything outside of it to Americans when Lance Armstrong stepped onto the moon in 1969, signaling victory in the final frontier. However, even with his competitive nature and his need to be in the spotlight, if someone else has the attention in a group meeting, he won't make an effort to shine the light back on him; he no longer cares about being the center of attention once it's passed on to another.

America believes in the existence of aliens, houses one named Tony in his home, and is a horror movie/fiction junkie despite the terror he undergoes upon indulging in them. He continuously puts himself through the core of his nightmares with the reason that heroes, like himself, should be able to handle some slasher flicks. As shown in one doodle, America is depicted as a colony-baby reading a horror story with England behind him reminding him that he was told not to do so. In America's attempts to prove himself as a big damn hero, he's even taken his ability to handle horror into account since childhood. He'll pretend not to be scared, for as long as a calm demeanor of his can last, only for him to go home, curl up in bed, and, if he was lucky, pull whoever he could into bed with him to make sure nothing happens while he falls asleep; if said person falls asleep before him, he will throw a fit, and it will be a loud, flailing fit. When he has friends to watch movies with, he has the habit of clinging to them for dear life, screaming at the top of his lungs, reduced to a blubbering goo of terrified. In modern times, this poor soul is typically Japan, as America grows to have a fondness for Japanese horrors. This, in itself, could define his immunity to the horrors of battle, gore, and all the tangible aspects of fear, while he's unprepared for the unseen and suspenseful aspects all together (see: Vietnam).

Nostalgic and sentimental to his core, he has a problem with getting rid of things that remind him of something else. With his insecurity as a nation without as much history as the rest of the world, the things that he can deem historical remnants are of utmost value to him, since the material objects can stand for his history more than the two-hundred years can against a European's hundreds, soon to be thousands. This need to hold onto things is more so of a problem when it comes to objects that remind him of England, as their past is rocky and, to put it simply, tragic in its short-lived way. Having been raised by England, he finds it difficult to let their history go, despite the effort he puts into teasing and tormenting England with his false-ignorance. Certain things that mean something personal to him, as seen in the Storage Room Cleaning strips, are typically taken to a whole new level of secretive hiding. While he can't toss them away, he rarely wants to ever see them, much less others. Lithuania has been the only one to actually come into contact with America's hidden treasures, to which America didn't protest more than informing him that England was on his way and to hide everything.

Character Series: Homestuck (http://mspaintadventures.wikia.com/wiki/Homestuck)
Background: John @ MSPA Wiki (http://mspaintadventures.wikia.com/wiki/John_Egbert)
Point in Canon: Act 5 Act 2, Here, but right after Karkat ceases trolling him. (http://www.mspaintadventures.com/scratch.php?s=6&p=005766)
Personality:

John is a typical nerdy 13-year-old boy with a heaping streak of pranksterism. He's cool with just about everything, going with the flow and never faltering in youthful optimism. He gets irritated and frustrated, of course, what teenager doesn't? More prone to wanting to not be around his father than anything else, he takes to a solitary lifestyle, favoring chatting on Pesterchum, watching (bad) movies, and playing video games more than any other activity. This has also led him to be a generally nice guy out of a desire to not give his dad any reason to bother him more than he feels bothered by; by isolating himself from in-person interactions, he really has no reason to be anything but a good kid, and somehow he maintains good in-person, if not a little awkward, social skills. That said, he's remarkably innocent and naive, which is more obvious as he plays through Sburb and never falters in this child-like state of mind even as he faces hardships and grows as the game goes on. He's not as smart as his friends, or most of the characters in Homestuck, and he mainly progresses through the game with help from multiple people, rather than figuring out things for himself.

He does, for better or worse, see the good in all others. For some, it may take a few conversations, especially if he needs time to warm up to them (ie the trolls), but he eventually comes to trust them just as much as he trusts the next person; which is, to say, to a stupidly huge extent. His trustful nature had gotten him killed in one timeline, and thanks to time shenanigans he was able to choose between putting his trust in Dave or Terezi, the latter choice being what got him killed in the Doomed Timeline. Though this seems like an obvious choice--take the word of your time-traveling best friend or a troll you met over weirdo alien internet--John actually had some debate within himself before reconsidering and going with Dave's advice. Though this shows that John values broship highly, it also magnifies John's lack of appropriate judgement in many situations. It's not that he's obedient, exactly, it's just that he trusts everyone, including mysterious voices in his head, fairly equally and finds it difficult to decide for himself which path he wants to take. This is partially what makes him a natural-born leader/hero combo; he gives everyone the same opportunities, and no matter who they are he'll do everything it takes to give them a hand when they need it. He doesn't view himself as a leader, or really even a hero, and would much rather be people's friend over those positions any day.

John is fairly extroverted, and has every ability to talk anyone's ear off about whatever comes to mind. He tends to reenact scenes from his favorite movies at any given moment, or just break out into dance when he's excited. It doesn't matter if anyone's watching him or not, he just does whatever he has the idea to do. That said, he's a slave to his urges and rarely thinks before acting, and acts on them with great zeal. (http://www.mspaintadventures.com/?s=6&p=003831) In general, he's the quiet kid who sits by himself at the lunch table that no one knows is absolutely silly until they talk to him. It's not that he's secretive about his weirdness, he's just more preoccupied with getting lost in an untranslated manga as he makes up the story since he can't read Japanese worth shit. His lack of caring enough to reason things carries on into how he thinks about things in general, choosing to do now and reflect later. When he gets down to alchemizing, he doesn't seem to put too much thought into putting Thing 1 and Thing 2 together farther than that it might do something cool, and usually his instinct ends up either producing something incredibly useful or...not. His innovative skills come quite naturally to him, and it helps him out a lot throughout the series.

Character Series: Touhou Project (http://en.touhouwiki.net/wiki/Touhou_Wiki)
Background: http://en.touhouwiki.net/wiki/Yuyuko_Saigyouji
Point in Canon: After Ten Desires.
Personality:
When she was alive, Yuyuko was very serious, poised, and deliberate, willing to sacrifice her life if her duty called for it. However, with her death and loss of memory came a freedom from her ties to worldly concerns. Yuyuko is very floaty and carefree, not giving a great deal of worry to any one thing. She doesn't remember how she died, but she also doesn't seem to remember what she had for breakfast. Neither seems to trouble her much.

Yuyuko also has a penchant for carefree enjoyment over anything else. She enjoys good food, good drink, festivals, flower viewing, and anything else relaxing and enjoyable. A healthy amount of her time and energy are devoted to meeting these carefree pursuits. Especially food and drink - Yuyuko has attacked a living bird spirit because she was hungry. She assisted Yukari on a trek to the moon with the ulterior motive of stealing millenia-old vintage Lunarian sake. Then again, a good part of this seems to stem from an immense degree of boredom. After all, Yuyuko has been living in the Netherworld for centuries, and her job is, on a day-to-day basis, fairly easy. She has enormous amounts of free time.

While she is largely dissociated from her past life, one thing she did retain is her elegance. Yuyuko is very graceful, carrying herself with the dignity of an authentic princess. Her knowledge of etiquette and noble affairs are vast, and even when she's doing leisurely things, she does them all very properly. Her poised elegance even extends into when she's making fun of someone, to the point that they may not even realize they're being made fun of.

Speaking of which, Yuyuko is much, much smarter than she looks. She consciously puts on an air of being an airhead, but it's somewhat of a facade. She is smart, competent, and responsible when it actually matters. She has the ability to kill any human without a second thought, but she doesn't use it, even in a high-stakes battle, out of her sense of responsibility. She has spend decades perusing her library. Yuyuko simply prefers that people think that she doesn't know or care what's going on, as it makes dealing with them much easier. Also, despite her intelligence, Yuyuko really would rather just lounge around having fun and relaxing.

Character Name: Rosalia "Rose" Rossellini
Character Series: Trauma Team (http://traumacentergame.wikia.com/wiki/Trauma_Team)
Background: Here. (http://traumacentergame.wikia.com/wiki/Rosalia_Rossellini) That really doesn't have much and has a few inaccuracies, so here (http://healeveryone.livejournal.com/1197.html) is a more comprehensive one (with a little added speculation, marked where appropriate) and here (http://healeveryone.livejournal.com/930.html) is a timeline of events in her life (with some estimates on dates where needed).
Point in Canon: Post-canon
Personality:
Rosalia's strongest quality is probably in her optimism. She wants the best for the world, and she'll do everything she can to try and help it. She has a lot of faith in the world, because in many ways she was a very lucky, very happy girl until the end of her life. She was orphaned at an early age and was noted to have been very sad in her time there, likely because of the fact that her parents were gone—until, of course, she found that there were people out there who were kind enough to save her life even in the face of danger. This was probably a big deal and a turning point for her, reinforced a year or two later when a man decided to take her life into his own and adopt her as his daughter. Despite her misfortunes the world has largely showed goodness to Rosalia, and it's little wonder she wants to do good back.

Her optimism is both the product of and the driving motivation behind the way she grew up: being both her father's daughter and research subject, she was aware from childhood that her blood contained one thing that had the potential to do really bad stuff and another that had the potential to do really good stuff. Rosalia's father worked endlessly to find a way to neutralize the bad and utilize the good, and while Rosalia's love for her father and unconditional belief in his goals help explain how she could happily go through years of isolation and sometimes painful testing to achieve that they're almost certainly not the only factor. Rosalia honestly wanted to be able to help heal people, and it was the vision of a future where every disease could be cured along with her dad's success that gave her the strength to keep going.

In general, Rosalia's a very friendly girl and a loving daughter: she adopts Maria as her big sis just because Maria saved her, she seems to look up to her brother just as much despite having at most a few years with him, and she just loves her father, supporting him to the very end. She really does adore the people she has in her life, both because she's only had so many and because she's just that kind of person. She's likely to feel the same way about any new friends she's ever able to make.

In terms of maturity and behavior Rosalia is somewhere between a normal teenager and a sheltered daddy's girl, because she really is both of those. She's eager to meet people and make friends, although she hasn't had much experience in complex social interaction. She's also pretty responsible, looking after her father when he got too caught up in research to do it himself, and she's confident enough to interrupt his work to do so.

Rosalia does get lonely, but she tries not to let it get her down anymore ever since she was rescued from the fire. She mentioned missing her brother and "big sis" in a recording made just prior to her death and expressed hope that one day she'd be able to go out and make friends after her father's research was done, but she was also satisfied with where she was too. Knowing or remembering the really bad things in her life might be enough to shatter her generally sunny disposition, considering that these include getting murdered by her father and being the cause of a lethal virus outbreak, but overall Rosalia truly appreciates everything she has rather than the things she doesn't and focusing on those is what keeps her strong and happy.

Character Name: Palom
Character Series: Final Fantasy IV (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Final_Fantasy_IV)
Background: Palom is in the story for a very short time, so I’ll summarize things quickly here. Palom and Porom are twin mages from the city of Mysidia, which was formerly ransacked by Cecil and the Red Wings on the King of Baron’s orders to obtain the city’s crystals. They succeeded, leaving the place kinda destroyed and killing many. The Mysidians are not happy. When Cecil washes up on shore, he wishes to repent for his former sins and is told by the Elder to head towards the Mount of Ordeals, in order to overcome his dark past and become a Paladin. He agrees. Palom and Porom are sent to accompany him, apparently being two of the strongest mages in the city despite their young ages.

The twins accompany Cecil up the mount where they meet the ancient sage Tellah, whom they both rather idolize. He joins their party as well. At the summit, they combat and defeat Scarmiglione, Fiend of Earth, and help Cecil overcome his dark side. Once he becomes a Paladin, a voice from the sky congratulates him, calling him his son before the voice disappears. Everyone heads off the mountain together, happy.

They return to Mysidia, where the Elder reveals that he sent the twins along to keep an eye on Cecil in order to make sure he wasn’t faking his repentance. Palom and Porom would, presumably, have stopped and possibly killed Cecil if he hadn’t been sincere. Anyway, the two insist on accompanying Cecil throughout the rest of his journey, and the Elder allows them to go. They take the Devil’s Road, a secret path that leads between Mysidia and Baron – Cecil needs to speak with his old friend, Cid, an airship builder, in order to get an airship.

In Baron, they meet up with another old friend, Yang, who rejoins them after being knocked out of his brainwashing. Together, the five of them enter Baron to confront the King. Though he is Cecil’s surrogate father, he has not acted like himself for quite some time , and they are determined to get some answers. The truth quickly comes out. The King of Baron was killed some time ago and an imposter has been standing in his place: Cagnazzo, the Fiend of Water. He is, of course, defeated, and the party happily goes off to find Cid.

On the way out, however, Cagnazzo’s voice calls out. He would not die without taking them all with him; so saying, the walls begin to grind in around the party. Though they all tried to hold them back, they could not succeed – At least, not until Palom and Porom intervene. Resolved that Cecil should not die, the two mages use their powers to cast Break together, on themselves. The heavy stone statues are enough to stop the walls from crushing the party entirely.

Much, much later, the twins are revived by the Elder of Mysidia, where they join Cecil in the battle against the Giant of Babil. In the GBA version, they rejoin the party after the battle. In every other version, the twins will be found praying in the Tower of Wishes in Mysidia afterwards.

Palom 2/2

[identity profile] prodigious-mage.livejournal.com 2011-10-16 03:22 am (UTC)(link)

Point in Canon: Right before petrification!
Personality: Palom is in the party for a very short period of time (perhaps the shortest out of all the characters), but even then, he makes his presence felt. He’s pretty much a rude, arrogant little brat, with no regard whatsoever for authority. Even as an adult seventeen years later, he can’t stand being told what to do. The only person who can really keep him in check is his sister, Porom, who accomplishes said task by smacking her brother over the head. Repetaedly. Without her, Palom would likely behave twice as poorly as he ever did in the game.

It seems that the only thing that Palom respects is power. The Elder of Mysidia is probably the strongest mage there; Palom, though reluctantly, does follow the instructions given to him by the man. When Tellah shows up, he and his sister have a bit of a ‘OMGWOW’ moment at seeing the greatest sage in the world. When Tellah learns Meteor, they get another one of those moments. Strangely enough, though, Palom himself can learn Meteor at Level 50 without any need for ascending mountains and the like. In any case, he looks up to adults who have accomplished goals that he's striving for; anyone who's impressive enough will be followed without question, much as any kid idolizes a mentor.

That’s not to say Palom doesn’t have a good heart. Though most of his thought processes revolve around, “How can I show off my magic and how can I make the biggest explosions?”, he truly did wish to accompany Cecil for the purpose of helping him save the world. And of course, together with his sister, neither of them hesitated in sacrificing themselves to save the others; when Tellah attempted to cast Esuna on the both of them, their will, even as statues, was strong enough to prevent him from stopping them. Not just a little of his brattiness is an act of some sort to try and express his anger with being taken as a little kid. If he gets the respect he thinks he deserves, Palom can be very sweet and behave like any normal child.

Without his memories, Palom will be much less of a braggart and a pain; actually, he'll greatly admire anyone else who shows any supernatural powers, black magic or otherwise. He'll be easily malleable and much more cooperative. In regards to his sister, he'll be more willing to show the familial love he actually feels towards her instead of just concealing it under their goodmage-badmage act.

Name: AF
Personal LJ: [livejournal.com profile] hotandcoldrp
Contact Info: AIM: DecepticonAF; e-mail: decepticonaf@aol.com; Plurk: hotandcoldaf

Character Name: Miles Edgeworth, and I'd like him to remember Edgeworth, please.
Character Series: Ace Attorney (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ace_Attorney)
Background: This should cover it all adequately. (http://aceattorney.wikia.com/wiki/Miles_Edgeworth)
Point in Canon: Post-Investigations 1
Personality: Edgeworth is a very independent person. He's kind of antisocial by nature, and while he has no problems socializing when needed (anymore, at least; there was a time when "lacking" would be a charitable description of his social skills), he still generally prefers to be left alone to handle his affairs in peace, particularly when said affairs are personal problems. Edgeworth isn't very fond of talking about himself, but he really hates talking about his problems, to sometimes ludicrous lengths, such as actually trying to run away from Phoenix rather than discuss the fallout of his latest seismophobic episode. It's difficult for Edgeworth to acknowledge his faults (or at least the things he perceives as faults); he feels that if something's wrong with him, he should be able to fix it on his own, and the fact that he absolutely can't do so with the seismophobia is something of a sticking point for him, despite the fact that nobody but him actually blames him for being traumatized.

But for better or for worse, Edgeworth is not usually too fussed about what other people think of him. It clearly annoys him when people think poorly of him, and he won't hesitate to correct someone who is genuinely mistaken about something, but beyond that, the effect is minimal. Edgeworth lives his life in accordance with his own high standards and stringent principles, and that makes it pretty easy for him to judge most of the criticism he receives as unfounded and thus irrelevant. Of course, he also has a habit of disregarding praise he receives in the same fashion—he knows he's good at what he does, and other people telling him that are just wasting everyone's time. Just about the only matter in which he seems to care about his reputation as perceived by others is his enjoyment of the Steel Samurai, which he hides zealously.

What concerns Edgeworth the most, though, is objective truth. That's what he's pretty much dedicated his life to and why he decided to return to prosecuting after the events of the first game. He's ruthless in his pursuit of the truth, even going so far as to tell Adrian that he doesn't care if she commits suicide, so long as she tells the truth before she does. Not that Edgeworth is always honest himself, though; he'll lie in order to avoid a topic he doesn't want to discuss, albeit usually badly. In general, though, he strives to be honest, even if he has to be harsh in doing so. And when not investigating a murder case and therefore treating everyone as a potential suspect, he tends to assume this is something that holds true for other people as well, leading to an almost surprising amount of gullibility for someone so otherwise intelligent and logic-driven.

Miles Edgeworth | Ace Attorney [2/2]

[identity profile] lawyer-batman.livejournal.com 2011-10-16 05:12 am (UTC)(link)
Also potentially surprising is that for all Edgeworth's practicality, reasoning, and general presentation of a realistic worldview, he actually has a pretty strong idealistic core. This idealism is the cause of his obsession, for lack of a better word, with the objective truth, and his belief that through enough careful examination of evidence and testimony, said objective truth can be found while remaining within the bounds of the law as it stands and that if it can't, then the solution is to change the law, not work outside of it. However, it also leads him in some less rational directions, like the severe offense he takes to having a serial number on his Prosecutor's Badge, or insisting that a father would never deliberately try to harm his own daughter, despite the father in question being a known criminal and someone he's never personally met. Edgeworth has enough experience and intelligence to know that shades of grey exist, but he still prefers it when things are black and white and just generally simple. This doesn't just extend to moral issues; the furnishings of his office are all of the highest quality, but none of them are particularly ornate, and despite being one of the wealthiest characters in the entire series, he is also the owner of the clunkiest and most outdated cell phone, since he is of the steadfast opinion that the one and only function a phone should be capable of is making phone calls.

Edgeworth is a perfectionist. Not an egocentric control freak masquerading as one like the von Karmas tend to be, but truly perfectionistic—that is, when something goes wrong, Edgeworth will first and foremost blame himself rather than anyone or anything around him. While he's enough of a realist to acknowledge that true perfection is impossible, he doesn't view that as an excuse to settle for anything less than as close as possible, and people bringing up his imperfections tends to get his dander up. The story about origami cranes that Larry relates in 3-5 isn't really notable because of how not being able to do something frustrated a young Miles to the point of tears, or even because bringing it up 17 years later still makes him mad, but because in the interim, he's practiced so much that he can now fold even an extremely small origami crane absolutely flawlessly, and he's willing to drop everything he's doing to prove it. Edgeworth is an extremely prideful person, and he doesn't take wounds to said pride very lightly.

As far as personal relationships go, Edgeworth is, to be perfectly frank about it, still pretty bad. As previously touched upon, he can hold polite conversation with little to no problem, but when a friendship becomes a more long-term affair, faults begin to show themselves. Edgeworth is the sort of person who disappears without warning or explanation for over a year and then when he returns, has the gall to not be surprised when someone is angry at him for it, but instead to tell them that they shouldn't be angry at him at all. (This is an example of the earlier point about how living by his own standards and no one else's makes it easy for him to deflect criticism—it's worth noting that he's not always in the right when he does this.) Which brings me to the next point, that Edgeworth is, again, to be perfectly frank about it, kind of an asshole, especially to his friends. He is scathingly sarcastic, frequently snide, and, at times, downright trollish, and the more comfortable he is around a person, the more likely he is to act this way. Which is not to say he doesn't care about his friends—he most certainly does—but he generally avoids showing said care or concern to them directly.

SUDDENLY a double app?!?!?! Ryoma Nagare | New Getter Robo [1/3]

Character Name: Ryoma Nagare
Character Series: Really pushing the bounds of "adequate" here. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Getter_Robo)
Background: Ryoma's father owned a martial arts dojo and raised his son with what can only be described as an unrelenting orgy of violence. Ryoma thinks of his childhood with nothing but fondness.

So naturally when a fellow by the name of Dr. Saotome went on the hunt for insane badasses to pilot his new combining super robot, Getter Robo, and fight oni with it, Ryoma was his first recruit. Ryoma soon found himself shoved into the cockpit of the Eagle Get Machine, making him the primary pilot of Getter Robo's Getter-1 form. He then aided in the recruitment of Getter-2's pilot, Hayato Jin, a socipathic super-genius terrorist, and then Getter-3's pilot, Benkei Musashibo, a Buddhist monk who's just far too sane for this horseshit.

Curious about where the oni came from and, more to the point, eager to bring the fight to them instead of just hanging around waiting for them to show up, Ryoma piloted Getter Robo into one of the portals oni appeared from and found himself in the Heian Era with no Getter Robo, Hayato, or Benkei in sight. He soon ended up in cahoots with oni-slayer Raikou Minamoto against the oni's apparent boss, Seimei Abe. Ryoma launched a solo on-foot attack against Seimei's Dark Heian Capital that eventually ended with him meeting up again with Hayato, Benkei, and Getter Robo; Seimei defeated; and Raikou dead. The ruined remains of the Dark Heian Capital collapsed into another oni portal, through which the Getter Team managed to return to Saotome Labs... three years after they left.

Dr. Saotome had not been idle in these three years, though, and promptly had Getter Robo's reactor replaced with an upgraded one, which Ryoma soon took out for a solo test-drive, knocking himself out from the acceleration, upon which he had an intense vision of a future in which mankind fused with Getters and things were Pretty Awful. Dream or not, this was the first and probably only thing that had ever really scared the shit out of Ryoma and he promptly quit the Getter Team to make sure it didn't become reality.

Too bad Seimei turned out to not actually be dead and his fight with Getter Robo forced Ryoma back into the cockpit. Not long after Seimei's defeat for real this time, his bosses showed up, four mysterious beings claiming to be gods, with bullshit powers to match. Getter Robo was doing poorly until Dr. Saotome opened the floodgates on the massive store of Getter Rays under Saotome Labs, also opening the way to a weird pocket universe thing that the fight promptly moved to. Here, the extremely high level of Getter Rays caused Ryoma to go absolutely batshit psycho on the "gods", until Hayato and Benkei brought him back down to vaguely sane levels and they beat the "gods" properly as a super badass team.

And then the literally impossibly huge Getter Emperor showed up and Ryoma decided that he absolutely had to fight that motherfucker, so he separated the Eagle from the other two thirds of Getter Robo and blasted off in Getter Emperor's direction while Hayato and Benkei returned to Earth. Canon implies that he then spends the rest of eternity fighting Getter Emperor.

Ryoma Nagare | New Getter Robo [2/3]

[identity profile] a-mans-job.livejournal.com 2011-10-16 05:21 am (UTC)(link)
Personality: Ryoma is a hot-blooded asshole. The kind of guy who solves all his problems with punching, and if punching doesn't work, you're clearly just not punching hard enough. And if you're not punching hard enough, then you're kind of a sissy, aren't you? That kind of guy. Using his head to solve problems (by means other than headbutts) is a concept almost entirely foreign to Ryoma because, well. He is really, really good at punching his problems into submission. Punching things is pretty much foremost of all Ryoma's skills and interests. I could spend, like, this whole personality section talking about Ryoma's talent for and love of punching things and it would still probably not be enough emphasis. He is a very, very, incredibly violent person. His first scene in the series involves him gleefully beating up some Yakuza thugs, and his last one involves him looking up at a literally impossibly huge opponent and deciding that he has got to go fight the shit out of that thing, no two shakes about it. So yeah, if there's something that needs to be punched but good, Ryoma's your man.

Despite all this, Ryoma really isn't a whirling ball of violence 24/7! Quite the contrary, really. When Ryoma's not punching things, he's actually a pretty laid-back, easygoing, friendly dude. In fact, it's pretty clear that prior to his recruitment as a Getter Robo pilot, he lived the life of a pretty typical lazy slacker with no money and no useful life skills (beyond punching the shit out of shit), drifting purposelessly through life. What I am saying is that Ryoma is, in fact, a total bro. Sure, he's plenty abrasive, arguably even abusive, but there's an underlying amicability to it all. After all, if Ryoma really didn't like you, you'd have to deal with scraping yourself off the payment, not whatever smartassed quips Ryoma can quip smartassedly at you.

Indeed, for all Ryoma's love of violence, he's kind of an astoundingly decent person. Sure, he won't be donating to charity or rescuing puppies from burning buildings anytime soon, but he's still got his... OK, maybe not outright heroic traits, but certainly decidedly unvillainous ones. Perhaps most surprising among them is the fact that when a human opponent goes up against Ryoma, they generally survive the encounter. Generally. The few people he does definitely purposefully kill were trying to kill him first, but on the other hand, he admittedly isn't too concerned about having to kill them. Still, Ryoma clearly doesn't like to deal with casualties any more than he has to. When he overhears Raikou and her generals planning to have some of their troops attack the Dark Heian Capital's front gate as a distraction, he goes and attacks the gate all by himself because the idea of benefiting from their sacrifice when he can do it himself with no lives lost doesn't sit well with him at all. And the one thing we see in New Getter Robo that not only scares Ryoma, but spooks him so bad that he actually quits piloting Getter Robo is a vision of a future in which humanity has become fully integrated with the Getter and consequently everybody is running around slaughtering each other to cannibalize spare parts. And then what gets him back in the Getter is an oni attack in a highly populated area.

And one last trait that I've alluded to but want to make sure I make completely clear: Ryoma is a complete moron. Statements like "Even I know that [basic fact]" or "Don't talk shit I don't understand!" are pretty common with him, as are assumptions like "scientist" = "knows everything". Basically, it is painfully obvious that Ryoma either paid next to no attention in school or just straight up didn't go. At one point early in the series, he crash-lands the Eagle and rather than send anybody out to repair it, Saotome tells him to just dig out the manual and fix it himself, since it's so simple, even a monkey could do it. Ryoma completely fails to get anything done with it and ends up kicking the manual right off of the jet. He's not lacking in common sense (mostly), but his realms of knowledge definitely don't go much farther than karate.

Relm Arrowny | Final Fantasy VI

[identity profile] rainbowbrush.livejournal.com 2011-10-16 07:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Name: Fel
Personal LJ: You have this already!
Contact Info: This too!

Character Name: Relm Arrowny
Character Series: Right here! (http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Final_Fantasy_VI)
Background: "In her paintings, she captures everything..." (http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Relm_Arrowny)
Point in Canon: Post game.
Personality: Relm is a spunky little firecracker, much to her grandfather Strago's amusement and frustration. She has always been full of life, with a sharp wit and tongue to match. She speaks her mind, unafraid of anyone else's reactions to her attitude.

She has a bit of a temper, but it's usually brought on by someone calling her a kid or looking down on her because of her age. She may be young, but she doesn't like being treated like a child, and nothing gets her fired up faster than someone treating her as such. That being said, she still understands that sometimes she gets in over her head, and even though she'd never admit it, she's grateful to those adults she knows and trusts when they help her out of those situations. She also doesn't hesitate to use the "but I'm just a little girl!" line to get out of trouble and to make others feel guilty for bullying her, as it often seems to work quite well and she's quickly picked up on this.

She has all kinds of colorful names for the people she talks to, her grandfather being the one that gets the worst of it. From "fuddy-duddy" to "dried up old bag of bones", Relm never holds back when she's talking to Strago. Instead of chastising her, though, he just accepts these insults as they're really meant to be - a sign of Relm's affection for him. For all of her jabs and complaints about her grandfather, he is clearly the most important person in Relm's life, and she loves him dearly - even if she has strange ways of showing it. Indeed, those that Relm is closest to often get the worst of her teasing and attitude, especially if they happen to be male. She is often noticeably more forgiving toward females, especially mothering types; her longing for the mother she never knew is no doubt the cause for this.

Despite having no real knowledge of romance and attraction, she is quick to assume that anyone displaying any sort of romantic affection is a pervert. Watching people get flustered over such accusations only amuses her and makes her teasing worse, and she has a tendency to say some very racy and questionable things, implying actions she doesn't fully understand herself.

Relm also loves dogs, and they seem to love her back. Or perhaps Interceptor is a special case? Regardless, Relm takes an immediate liking to the huge and seemingly vicious dog, and in response he acts quite like the overgrown puppy around her, much to her delight. She shows no fear toward him, even though he is considerably larger than the small 10-year-old girl, and their bond is instant - though this is, unbeknownst to her, rooted in her past.

Not surprisingly, Relm loves to paint and draw, and she's very talented. Even when she isn't using her magic to bring her drawings to life, her artistic ability is impressive, and she takes great pride in her work. For one so young, she has great passion for art, and it shows in all of her creations. She often boasts that she's the greatest artist that has ever lived, and in a way that just might be true - no one else in her world seems to have the power of Pictomancy that she does, and her talent is indeed impressive, causing even the critical and snobbish Owzer to take notice and commission her for a painting to add to his huge collection.

Keith Goodman/Sky High : Tiger & Bunny

[identity profile] witheasygrace.livejournal.com 2011-10-17 06:03 am (UTC)(link)
Name: JenniO will do nicely.
Personal LJ: [livejournal.com profile] armistice_day
Contact Info: Note me on my personal or character journal-- or on Plurk as nineteendegrees (http://www.plurk.com/nineteendegrees).

Character Name: Keith Goodman
Character Series: Tiger & Bunny Wiki (http://tigerbunny.wikia.com/wiki/Tiger_%26_Bunny_Wiki)
Background: Sky High (http://tigerbunny.wikia.com/wiki/Sky_High)
Point in Canon: I'll be taking Keith from the point in canon where he (along with all the rest of the heroes) has had his memories of Kotetsu Kaburagi as Wild Tiger erased by Albert Maverick. Episode 21, to be precise.

Personality: Keith Goodman is a land of contrasts-- well, not a land. He's a person of contrasts. He's a super-powered human being, and a gentle person with an open nature. He's a serious guy with comically formal manners, and the socially awkward boy scout next door. He's an entertainer in the cause of justice, and an enforcer in the cause of commerce.

Keith has both a command of great power and a great capacity for gentleness. In the course of his duties as a hero, we never see him so much as showboat, much less abuse his powers. Often, he's shown making sure even the criminals he's apprehending aren't injured in the course of their arrest. Upholding the social order is important to Keith, not because he wants to impose his will on others, but because he believes the citizens he serves can be safest and happiest within it. In addition to his on screen and off screen duties on behalf of his sponsors and HeroTV, Keith spends the majority of his time in the evenings patrolling the city-- his own idea. Keith takes his gift seriously, plainly believing that "with great power comes great responsibility". He's devoted to his dog, John, as well as to his fans. In spite of the fact that he doesn't do much socializing, Keith has many qualities that make him a fine friend-- an earnest kindness and a great generosity of spirit first among them. Living proof that you shouldn't judge a book by its dust jacket, Keith transcends the stereotypes that go along with his "all-american" good looks. He consistently puts others before himself, even when he feels awkward or unsure. When he loses his title (King of Heroes) to Bunny, the jealousy he experiences obviously troubles him and he questions his identity. When he does reach out, to a young woman who is a stranger, he finds help, but remains convinced that he repay her.

Re: Keith Goodman/Sky High : Tiger & Bunny

[identity profile] witheasygrace.livejournal.com 2011-10-17 06:04 am (UTC)(link)
In spite of his sometimes "air headed" manner, Keith is a serious guy in general. Historically, he has difficulty improvising socially (of all the heroes, he's the one who takes Bunny's birthday skit most seriously, going to so far as to carry his lines with him to the event after having practiced on his own) and it's obvious that he feels more comfortable speaking as Sky High when the opportunity presents itself. Even when he's appearing as himself, Keith's manners are charmingly awkward. He's almost painfully formal, relying on convention so that he won't commit a faux pas. When he does share his thoughts, it's often to give affirmation to others-- though sometimes it's to espouse an opinion, even one that seems to come out of left field (see: ill-timed speculation over Bunny's ability to host a dinner show). Keith is the sort of person who weighs matters in mind for a good long while, wanting to be sure of himself before speaking-- not that his intentions always communicate well. While he does avoid forcing his opinions on others, Keith obviously has them. As charmingly uncomplicated as he can be, Keith also shows a strong simplistic streak at times. He seems to see justice in black and white terms, carrying out his duties in strict accordance with instructions. In part, this might well be due to his thinking that those above him know what needs to be done, but Keith shows a resistance to considering factors that might moderate his actions as a hero. As Sky High, Keith won't be swayed by reason, a bad guy is a bad guy is a bad guy, as Kotetsu ( along with countless other actual bad guys) finds to his frustration.

A good natured person of regular habits and good intentions, Keith leads a life that revolves around his obligations to others-- his sponsors, the other heroes, the citizens of Sternbild, his dog, even bad guys, when it comes down to it. All of the things Keith is and does go towards his ideals of service to the law and the protection of those around him. If there were such a thing as an Eagle Scout in his universe, Keith Goodman would be one. Or would have been, when he was still in school.

Sample Entry:

[Keith appears onscreen. His expression is alert, but softly puzzled, as it usually is when he's giving something a great deal of thought.]

Hello! Keith, here. Again. I hope that everyone is doing fine.

I want to ask a personal question, but if no one wants to answer, it's all right! I'll understand. It can be uncomfortable, talking like this to a stranger. But I guess I'm not a stranger here anymore. Except maybe to myself.
Lately I feel something is missing. Most things are missing, but I mean one in particular, one more important than the rest. I wonder if there is someone special to me who I've forgotten along with everything else. I think that's almost worse than forgetting yourself, forgetting the person who means the most to you.

I have this feeling of-- closeness. Things like going on walks, going to sleep and waking up together. It seems so real.
[Keith has no idea he is talking about his dog, John.]

In the air, things seem easier to understand than when I'm on the ground. It feels right. But this one thing never gets easier, it never feels right. I hope that when I do remember, it won't be a sad memory. I hope that for everyone.

Does anyone have the same feeling? If you have already remembered someone special to you, you can tell me about that. If you want to!
Thank you!
